Exciting opening at a $1.5 billion company, for a Sales Manager of a Chemical and Lubricants Sales group in the Cleveland, Ohio area, relocation is available on an individual basis for this position. Quick response on candidates who have managed a team of representatives that have sold Chemical and Lubricantss to manufacturing situations in the region, anything that is considered a consumable and sold on a repeat basis; lubricants, metal working fluids, Chemical and Lubricants raw materials, cleaners, degreasers, MRO’s, janitorial supplies, tooling supplies, metal machining or gases. This sales manager will supervise the efforts of 5 sales representatives who are spread out over the territory, OH, KY and PA. This company has a relationship sales environment which is predicated on value added problem solving behavior where you service the customers and meet the needs of the manufacturing situation, ensuring the customers is optimized in their process. The salesman and Sales Manager will visit the customers regularly and provide technical service or have the Engineering staff follow up with answers to technical changes or answers to problems in their processes. They will call on metal fabricators, drawing, forging, or stamping operations where they use a variety of specialty lubricants, greases or coolants.

Job Purpose:

A technical degree is preferred, BS Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Lubricants Engineering, Chemistry but any 4 yr. BS level degree will be considered with 5-10 years of hands on experience as a Sales Manager managing a group of sales reps. (direct supervision) who are selling products to manufacturing preferably the technical management. This sales manager must have the ability to motivate, train and mentor the reps in the value added techniques of selling, don’t sell by price but by the quality of service and solving manufacturing process and problems. The sales manager candidate must have the ability to ask the right questions, sell products on the benefits and enhancements to the process which will enable the customer to increase output and reduce manufacturing time. My client will not look at job-hoppers someone with too many job changes in their career.

The company is rapidly expanding and this position is a replacement opening and needs to have this Sales Manager concentrate on maintaining the current customer base of the reps, have P and L responsibility and keep developing new business in the territory. Cold calls are required along with managing the book of accounts in the territory. Product training and selling techniques will be given on a routine basis at headquarters in Chicago. Travel is 40-50% accompanying the sales reps when needed in the region which is done by car and overnight travel is occasional. Tracking of calls and customer contact is done through their sales software. Full home office setup, car, cell and computer. This Sales Manager would live ideally in the Cleveland area but my client will consider sales managers that live as far south as Columbus and Dayton locale.
