Market Development Manager

$125-140K base and 10% bonus plan.  Relocation package available on individual basis.

Market Development Manager Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Responsible for identifying new product and technology opportunities and leading their development to commercialization.  Responsible for establishing strategic development partnerships with industry contacts to achieve goals consistent with growth plans and strategy. Through analysis of market trends and creative thinking this manager will propose innovative solutions to customers’ needs and monitor the corresponding development programs within the company. Responsible for leading multifunctional teams to drive the ongoing management of market development activities around existing programs. This position will have responsibility of interacting closely with the Product Development Manager and Sales and Marketing group.

Market Development Manager Duties and Tasks:

  • Identify, develop and launch market development programs (utilizing Stage-Gate process) that will result in the realization of new business for the company, in collaboration with internal partners.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of customer and market needs and trends, technologies, competitive strategies, strengths and weaknesses, and channels to market.  Develop strategic and tactical plan for growing markets and future growth markets. 

  • Conduct market research to profile customers, and support development of market growth strategies.  Define and develop market development strategies (i.e. growth by new products/services to current or potential customers) and creating opportunities for successful market entry of new products or into new markets.

  • Strategizes and communicates the scope, content and strategy of the new business platform, and related aspects of the business plan, by defining & prioritizing market needs and openings, and the potential value to be created and captured.  Determines the market and commercial potential for identified opportunities providing analysis of commercial, economic/financial and competitive attractiveness.

  • Increases market intelligence through market studies, attendance to shows and conferences, customer’s relationships, professional associations, literature and social media.  Promote products and services to gain recognition and initiate additional business leads.

  • In coordination with Product Development Manager and Sales team designs all aspects of Marketing Mix to successfully launch new offering to selected markets.  Work with Product Development Manager to achieve successful completion of projects within the necessary time frame, and the required budgetary constraints.  Maintain close partnership with the Sales team, combine efforts and coordinate actions to increase customer intimacy.

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Market Development Manager Qualifications:

BS in Marketing or Business with minimum of 10 years’ experience is required in water treatment chemicals, specialty chemicals in manufacturing, air purification, oil and gas or mining industries. An MBA is preferred. Must possess a proven track record of best practices in B2B marketing situations.  Strong discovery skills with a tenacity and interest in exploring ideas and robust analytical skills to identify the best opportunities.  Ability to manage complex projects from inception to implementation, as well as manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.  Demonstrated creative and strategic mindset with strong collaboration, technical and marketing skills.
