CURRENT JOB OPENING: Sales Manager

Salary: $120-125K, 20k Bonus, Car Allowance

POSITION SUMMARY:

The U.S. headquarters including corporate offices, manufacturing operations, and R&D laboratories are in metro Chicago with additional plant locations and satellite labs in Kansas and West Virginia.  Sales and distribution facilities across the country support customer needs to achieve annual sales revenues that have grown to $300 Million.  The team-based culture is customer-focused and results-oriented.  For individuals who thrive in a collaborative work environment, the opportunities for professional growth and career satisfaction are significant.  

The Opportunity:

The Sales Manager will be responsible for growing and strengthening a $9 million regional business that supports customers located in New England and Eastern NY States with an additional $7 million in business in the Mid-Atlantic States for 2017. With emphasis on new business development to leverage the company’s strong market position, this important role will initially manage two sales professionals and eventually four to oversee sales strategy, account management, and product pricing.   The Sales Manager will work from a home office in Southern CT, NY, Northern NJ or Northeastern PA, to interface with the sales team and customer visits throughout the region that will require approximately 50% overnight travel. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop business growth plans and sales strategies with the three sales representitives to increase market share, generate additional sales revenues, and improve profitability.

  • Lead sales efforts and drive business growth by making decisions with knowledge, integrity, and a long-term perspective.

  • Interface directly with customers to better understand their needs and demonstrate the company’s commitment to ongoing technical support and long-term relationships.

  • Build a high performance team with effective leadership that includes setting clear objectives, tracking results, and providing ongoing coaching, support and feedback.

  • Partner with the product management function to identify business growth opportunities and drive marketing initiatives to achieve division objectives.

  • Collaborate with corporate staff functions and work to build relationships across the organization to support both division and company-wide objectives. Must be a team player.
     

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, results oriented individual with at least ten years of industrial experience that includes technical sales and demonstrated success as a sales manager.  Educational credentials should include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry or business, and an MBA is a plus.  Experience with lubricants used in the metalworking industry desired, but knowledge of tooling, spare parts, MRO, industrial supplies, waste water treatment, specialty chemicals, or related industrial products is also applicable.
 
Proven sales management and team leadership experience is essential.  This individual must be an effective coach who knows how to identify and prioritize opportunities, develop solutions, influence others, and strengthen business relationships.  Outstanding communications skills and effective interpersonal skills are also important.  The right person is a team player who wants to win, a high achiever who will work collaboratively to exceed goals.  Intelligence, drive and entrepreneurial spirit are all important attributes.
